Business PeopleSecond Chance wants to meet with every business possible in Palm Beach County, regardless of size, to educate them on the benefits of giving a second chance to individuals who are truly serious about their recovery. One of the top three predictors of long term recovery is gainful employment. Second Chance provides licensed vocational counseling to help individuals serious about their recovery to identify a career path, and provide them with job readiness and life skills. However it is our business community that actually gives them their second chance – one person at a time!

In addition, Second Chance needs and gratefully welcomes financial donations for scholarships and operating funds. In kind donations are also welcome. We’d be happy to discuss our current needs, and our wish list.

Businesses may also want to offer internships to individuals who have completed a Second Chance Program, or may have individuals in the company who would agree to volunteer to serve as Community Mentors.

Second Chance needs Community Mentors covering every career area! It won’t take a lot of your time, but will mean so much to one or more individuals. You may be responsible for setting them on a path towards a satisfying career. You might even discover a new employee!

Universities, Colleges and Trade Schools

EducatorPart of Second Chance’s licensed vocational counseling program is to identify each person’s strengths and weaknesses using evidence- and researched-based assessments and transferable skills analysis. In many cases, this will indicate the need for further education for an individual serious and interested in a specific career path.

Second Chance will work with area Universities, Colleges and Trade Schools, making referrals to admissions officers where appropriate. We also encourage or invite admissions officers to participate in information sessions for our clients and others in the recovery community.
