Transformation for the person you love!

It’s estimated that each alcoholic or addict affects the lives of at least four other people, as substance abuse is truly a family disease . . . . a disease that is a destroyer of relationships, friendships, careers, and of life itself in some cases. The positive news is that there is a solution. The first step is to seek help from a drug and alcohol treatment center as soon as the person is willing.

Once the one you love nears the completion of their treatment program, you should consider contacting Second Chance to learn more about our transformational programs.

As a friend or family member you have seen that years of abuse has gotten in the way of thoughts about a future. Many walked away from educational or working opportunities. Some never started or tried. Second Chance provides a vocational and life skill pathway towards transformation to achieve long term sobriety.

Work… one of the three best predictors for long term sobriety

Extensive research conducted over the years by The Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), which is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has shown that the three best predictors of long term success for a substance abuser are:

  1. Gainful employment
  2. Family support
  3. Lack of co-existing mental illness

While SAMHSA research strongly recommends that vocational services should be an integral part of all substance abuse treatments programs, help of this type is not generally part of the substance abuse treatment package.

“If work is to be sustained and enduring lifestyle changes made, the vocational service provided must focus on pathways into careers, on job satisfaction, and on overcoming a variety of barriers to employment, as well as on the skills necessary for maintaining employment.”

Vocational Programs now available through Second Chance

Second Chance transforms lives by providing vocational programs previously unavailable to people in recovery in Palm Beach. We assist and empower your loved one to develop a realistic vocational plan to find renewed meaning and purpose. Offered in a non-judgmental and safe environment, recovering alcoholics and drug addicts can transform their lives for the better by completing a Second Chance six week program.

  • Programs are held at our beautiful Delray Beach facility and include licensed vocational counseling, life skills coaching, and structured job readiness and life skill group workshops. Each six week program is limited to only 25 individuals to insure proper focus and individualized attention.
  • Our licensed Vocational Counselors use both evidence- and research-based assessments and transferable skills analysis to assist your loved one in a directed self-discovery process.
  • They will gain a clear and actionable understanding of their occupational interests, abilities, work values, and possible education requirements to move forward to achieve a life of long term sobriety.
  • Written progress reports are provided to each client and their family, treatment center, or therapist if requested.
